Electrical Powered Sports Car: Tesla Roadster


The Tesla Roadster's chassis is a heavily-modified version of the Lotus Elise chassis.

A electrical powered sport car from Tesla Roadster Motors. It runs on a three phase, four pole electric induction motor.

* Acceleration: zero to 60 in about 4 seconds
* Dimensions: 155.4 inches long, 73.7 inches wide, 44.4 inches tall with a 92.6-inch wheelbase
* Weight: 2,500 pounds (subject to change due to safety regulations)
* Top Speed: Over 130 mph
* Range: 250 miles EPA highway
* Battery Life: Useful battery life in excess of 100,000 miles


Unique features:
* A unique PIN to start the car and prevent hot-wiring
* A Homelink transceiver you can program to control radio-frequency controlled devices such as your community gate and garage door
* A dock connector for your iPod
* Electrically-controlled door handles (there's no mechanical lock, which makes it more difficult to break into the car)


This baby runs on 6,831 lithium-ion batteries, similar to those we used for laptops.


A full charge requires only 3.5 hours from completely dead batteries, and can cover a distance of 400 km on single fully charged batteries.
